Ellen DeGeneres recently spoke out about the intolerance-based violence that has spurred several suicides around the country. It's a really touching video, you must watch it if you haven't yet:



One death due to bullying is already too much, let alone four. It's frankly appalling that people would so readily turn a blind eye to these poor kids. I admire Ellen so much for doing something about that terrible fact.

On a similar note, out columnist Dan Savage and his husband recently started the "It Gets Better" project, encouraging LGBT adults to shoot and post videos to their YouTube channel assuring LGBT youth who might be in crisis that their lives will get better. The project also encourages participants to share stories about how the quality of their own lives improved as they matured.
